Does anyone know if there is a Filter inside the fuel tank? My cousin says there is and Auto Zone computer shows no record of such. More apt to believe the experience of my 70 year old cousin than a kid pushing buttons on a computer...Just don't know for sure....Anyone?????
There is a sock type screen/filter that slips onto the sending unit pickup tube....Most original ones are deteriorated and need to be replaced....I just did mine....Many of the vendors have them for sale.....
yep, mine was deteriorated and the peices were getting sucked into the fuel line, only cost a couple bucks, there are 2 sizes, I think 3/8" and 5/16", good luck
soooo... Dropped the gas tank replaced mesh strainer, blew out gas line, replaced all rubber gas lines, inline fuel filters.. Check timing with timing light...mark seemed to be slightly bouncy... Still running poorly I'm broke, I'm tired and going to Bed now!
On mine, the sock had collapsed and it looked like it was bending to the side and covering the pickup tube. My fuel pressure was very erratic, sometimes it would be right and sometimes it would be low. I couldn't find a replacement sock, so I cut the sock off and stuck an inline filter before the fuel pump. I used a coarse stainless mesh filter so there wouldn't be any restriction. I think this is better than stock because you can...

The only reason I would spend that much is because I have a 305ci out of an 84-88 model (not sure which one) but it had TBI and I switched to carb and had to put an electric pump in since there is no opening in the block for a mechanical one. By the way does anyone know what the stock GPH...

rebuild the carb, sounds like the jet could be plugged. Will run on the idle circut and as soon as you try to open the throttle it goes way lean and dies. You are getting fuel into the carb right? sorry just went back and noticed that you did rebuild the carb. Now I am thinking maybe water in the fuel.
