IT'S A LOT OF WORK BUT IT WORKED!

Good job! Don't you love it when you finally find a cure!! I had one insert that was really stinky and never came clean so its been soaking for a day now and I'll be trying oxiclean and vinegary tonight on it.

I really think that was what did the trick. If you get bored throw it in a pot of boiling water after you're done and boil for about 5 minutes. Keep me posted if you get rid of the stinkies!

Yep, when I have an issue, I do bleach and if that doesn't work I boil all my inserts. It works great

Wow that's awesome that you got rid of the stink but THAT'S SO MUCH WORK!!!

I like our microfiber and I really don't have the money to start using anything else! I'll have to try boiling it! But I'll have to do it before my kids or DH gets home because if he sees me boiling something that goes on our daughters bottom that would probably be the last draw of cloth diapers for him! He's been really good so far about me using the bathtub to store our dirty diapers for the...

Re: I FINALLY GOT RID OF THE STINK IN MY MICROFIBER INSERTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know its probably not to good for the microfiber but I actually put about 2 tablespoons of bleach in with every wash of the microfiber. I figured oh well if the microfiber goes bad on me I can then replace it with something better and easier to wash!
I just do an extra wash cycle with Dawn about every two weeks to keep the stinkies away. I don't have the time to go through all of what you did lol.... That is just too much. Plus, I figure that when I have a heavy wetter like I do, and the only dipes that stink are the morning ones.... well, pee all night would stink all the time I would think.
lol, this is why some people see cloth as a lot of work. no MF here due to skin allergies but i also think the stink of disposables is just absolutely gut wrenching so at least this can go away and isn't just put outside to bake in the eco system!
I heard something the other day about cleaning out your washing machine, every once in a while you should run it empty on cold with a cup of bleach, they said hot water actually doesn't let bleach do it's job near as well. You should try that next time, a cup of bleach with only cold water, you are going through an awful lot of steps and using a ton of water, I am glad you found something that works, but if you haven't already...
