( Dr. Campos had me do a barium swallow while Husband was having his leak test. He wanted to check me out and see why I can eat so much. They were astounded that I could eat a 6" Subway sandwich.
What they found shocked the living hell out of me. I'm NOT SLEEVED. I have an HOUR GLASS shaped stomach. I have an upper pouch, a small sleeve-type restriction of maybe 2", then a regular ...
( Wow darlin did the doctor say it might have been caused by your revision. I think I remember another or man who did a revision from VBG and because of the scar tissue that didn't have a banana sleeve either but something similar to what you described. How big is the lower pouch?
Wow honey I'm so sorry and will keep you in prayer.

( I would be making some calls and getting some answers...ASAP...!!!!
This is something no one wants to hear...
What are your plans...???
Why don't you ask the Dr.s there...what can be done...???
,)
( I'm at a loss for words! I can't imagine how you feel right now. I know if it were me, I'd be totally ****ed that I was lied to! I understand that being a revision may necessitate a different procedure, but my goodness, you should have been told that you ended up with an hour glass.
Did your surgeon say anything to you about how your surgery went? Did she outright lie to you? I ...
( Aw Joyce, I'm SO sorry to hear this..I think at the time of your surgery, Dr. Pompa was really new to the sleeve, that's the only thing I can think of. It does certainly explain alot-but wow, not what you wanted to hear, but you know-at least you are armed now with good information from Dr. A, from everything I hear-he is SO great! Did he say if they can do anything?
I'm glad your hubby ...
( Hi Joyce, I'm sure that was a surprise to you but at the same time it must have confirmed your suspicions all along. Not being restricted, not feeling full but at the same time, you've done very well losing 80 lbs. Did Dr. Aceves charge you for the xray? ,)
( I've heard revisions often don't go as well as virgin sleeves. Because the band can cause scar tissue and erosions that the surgeon needs to work around. I'm sure it's more complicated to do an "hourglass" than a regular sleeve, no doubt your surgeon wouldn't have done it that way unless they were working around leftover band issues.
One more reason I don't like the band.
Please ...
( I just wish Dr. Pompa would have been straight forward with me and told me what she did. Instead, she told me she gave me the smallest, tightest sleeve she had ever done to ensure my success. Really?
I just emailed her and told her how disappointed I was and I thought she owed me some kind of refund. Ya think? ,)
( Dr Aceves was very supportive of me. He ASKED me if I wanted my sleeve checked out. In no way did he ever force me into it. he wasn't astounded at my ability to eat, he just wanted to see WHY I could eat so much. He also had nothing negative to say about Dr. Pompa. He's very professional and would NEVER badmouth another Dr. He said I don't have a vertical gastric sleeve, and showed me the upper GI series xrays....

I doubt a surgeon would give you any kind of refund for a revision, all they can do is work with what you have in there. Even with x-rays before surgery, they never know what they can and can't do until they are actually in there. Still, I wish all surgeons...
( He does use a 32F bougie, I think my capacity is larger because I had a long stomach to begin with. Or maybe it has to do with his technique. Either way, at 5 months out I can definitely eat more than most people on this board. I also never lost my hunger like some people do. ,)

( Joyce, I'm so sorry and I feel like every poster here. My thoughts and prayers are with you! And I wish you luck going forward dealing with your emotions and your doctor. Hugs ,)

( Dr. Campos did one of me and I remember him saying there's your new tummy but I threw up so I don't remember actually looking at it. Joyce you have such a GREAT attitude about this. I hope you get a reasonable response. ,)

OMG!!! I would be soooo ****ed!!!!! Your year anniversary is coming up! Take your results from Dr. Campos and run - repeat - RUN to an attorney who specializes in medical malpractice and sue the **** out of that doctor!!!!! I am a paralegal - you have a year from the date of surgery!!! Where there any witnesses when this QUACK told you she gave you the smallest sleeve ever. Call the hospital where you had it done and get a...
Joyce, That is just unbelievable ! It sounds like your head is in the right place and you will continue with your success. Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos ROCK. Aren't they the nicest most caring docs EVER! Best of luck on your weight loss journey. Cheers, Chas
