USA Today's article this morning says only 5000 iPhones were sold in China since Oct. 30, as compared to millions in other markets. Who know how reliable that stat is or if the Chinese aren't getting their iPhones elsewhere...but it is probably mostly right in summation. To be fair, $1000 iPhone wouldn't do that well in any market. I think there's a reason Apple pushes so hard to tie ...

"To be fair, $1000 iPhone wouldn't do that well in any market." To be fair they start at $730 (US equiv) not $1000. http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2009-10-30-iphon e-china_N.... "The marketing battle is not over yet, but this does represent a serious bump" Why is it a "serious" or any unexpected bump? How well do any as capable smart-phones sell in China? Are they subsidized by 2 ...

You're questioning this?" First off Apple's not in charge of sales or sales support - Unicom is. I have no idea of how big a rollout this was and unless you do the worry is and questioning is quite ...

"Three points: 1. China is a Communist country. 2. China does not respect Western, Capitalistic Intellectual property. 3. If iPhones make an impact in Comunistic China, domestic Rip-Offs will soon appear on the market. Kahuna, CFA" StarDate 63216.0 | Number: 160648 4 Answers: 1. I doubt anyone has forgotten that. 2. I agree. 3. Gray market iPhones already have made an impact - it's a well known risk...though of those...

And I believe Jobs would win any fight or refuse to participate if he disagreed with the direction China contractually obligated itself to participate. Jobs, luckily, doesn't have a history of being intimidated by any leader or situation. When he has the facts on his side and a great product he refuses to give in.

..."When he has the facts on his side and a great product he refuses to give in." - NO CITATION!!! Actually he (Apple) has given in - case in point deleting of WiFi for the Unicom units despite that being a competitive disadvantage with other Chinese options including gray market iPhones. Seems you keep forgetting this is China and the western experiences or expectations may not apply and once again 3 days may be a premature...
