Thread: IGN's Wolfenstein review and my impressions before I leave for Central Europe for 2 weeks!

Started 4 months ago by SFLUFAN
IGN review score: 7.3 IGN's score isn't all that far off from my impressions of the game so far from playing the first level (I'd give it a 7.5). It's a "competent" FPS game that doesn't excel at anything nor does it fail at anything. In that sense, it's a pretty typical Raven product - solid but unremarkable. In any case, I'll be gone to Central Europe (Czech Republic, ...

7.3 is a good score. It was like when IGN reviewed DOOM 64 and gave it a similar score because it wasn't doing anything new (like Wolf) and it toally rocked my world dude!

I think it looks like fun. For me, it doesn't need to do anything new or re-define the shooter genre, it just has to be fun. I'd like to get a demo just to get a feel for the game. Also, it looks like the pictures in the 'Images' section are from the 360 version. No doubt the PC version looks way more crisp and clear.

Gamefly mailed my copy this week. I look forward to trying it out.

A little disappointed. I was hoping for some good graphics as the high point. I was expecting around 8/10 for this one. I was going to pick up a copy at lunch but saw prices. $60CDN for PC. That's quite painful no matter the game. While the review is not really detering me from buying it, the price is. Yes, most new PC games are now $60CDN but there's no reason for that. What's worse is ...

Sounds like they completely butchered the multiplayer, which is all I really cared about. From RtCW all the way to Quake Wars, I figured the mp would be promising. I guess not.

With enough on my plate right now can hold of on this FPS. If drops in price might pick up and play.

Cool man thanks for the heads up, and impressions too. Have fun man!

Yeah man, I never even finished RtCW's SP campaign mode. All I played was the MP and I don't even like playing MP games that much. This and BF2 are the only 2 multiplayer games that I got into.

But it's ridiculous that PC games like this get screwed over by arbitrary console limitations when we...

TRANSFORMER, the id Community Manager and IGN user, is going to have a lot of explaining to do. Notice how he has been absent the last couple of days?

Interesting. People were saying how it's not working properly with it, I assumed that was because of OpenGl. Wish there was a demo really.

theunknown128 posted: So where is the PC review? Only seen the 360 one and not even the PS3 version got reviewed I think I figured that out. The PC version has problems. Picked it up yesterday, and after a crazy long install time I was greated by a menu obviously designed for a console. Played for about 25 minutes, and was just starting to get into it when it crashed. OK, download the release day patch, check Nvidia and find drivers were...
