Thread: How to stop zoning out while studying

Started 2 months, 2 weeks ago by hydroxide
I have this issue where I space out when I study. It is basically a daydream, except sometimes I just kind of "go blank" for about 10 minutes at a time. When I come back "to Earth", time has passed and I have no recollection of what happened during the time I was zoned out. I've wasted so much time like this while studying and I would really like to...well, stop. It would make me a lot more ...

I think you likely be leaving earth, going astral.. or getting some kind of lesson.. cause that's a interesting problem where you let time slide by I think you should research meditation, astral projection or a 101 methods and process's even a psychologist if you wish.. and either remove it.. or find out where you go (your choice)

It sounds like you have ADD.

here are my ideas 1. Make study important for you, make it a part of your goals 2. Mare study measurable and use time boxing, like you spend 30 minutes of study then you make couple related questions of test 3. Use time boxing, set time and study as much as you can (my favorite one) 4. Do smth while study, draw mind map, make notes 5. Put some music which motivates you to study (for ...

hydroxide, your zoning is probably because what you study is not interested for you, and your mind is not absessed with it, so you start thinking about interested things for you (not related to what you study) and fly away to space. Unless you will not start loving what you studing you will have it. Suggest you start trying all possible advises and tips unless you find what is good for you.

^ Interesting link. Maybe that is actually your diagnosis and the cure to this problem (for you, anyway). If you think it would help, you should probably see a mental health professional? I mean, if the problem a chemical imbalance or something, that can't be as easily controlled. I only have 1 or 2 symptoms on that list, easily distracted and poor concentration...

Attention Deficity Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Overview & Facts After looking through this article, it is strikingly obvious that I exhibit (and have for as long as I can remember) pretty much all of the characteristics of ADHD. While some of these symptoms or tendencies I have learned to control and work around, some of them still plague me to this day (like zoning out while studying/reading). There are different lists for...

The only real way to fix this, is to study only what is important to you. you day dream and tune out because it is mental junk food. You know you dont need it or it is not important for you to pay attention to. remember that their is more to life than leanring something that someone else thinks you need to know to pass their test etc. - ADHD = A-ttention D-ialed in to a H-igher D-imension! - __________________ FREE Video Reveals The #1 Secret...

That's great that you know that quiet works best for you for studying. I hope you've gotten your sleep challenges checked out by a doctor? 9 hours a night plus involuntarily falling asleep during the day sounds like there could potentially be an underlying medical issue. If so and you get it cleared up, your concentration and energy level might really improve.

This makes me think of the comment my mother in law told my husband a few years back. She said, 'Get Your Head Out of The Clouds." She thought he was too much of a dreamer, which he is. But it turned out to be the best thing for his life. He does great in life, with his head in the clouds. I think it's great to dream but I understand it can be not so good if you need to get things done here on Earth. For me deep breathing...

Hello OH-. I used to have (still have, sort of) the same two major problems you do: 1. Easily distracted; 2. Sleep too much. I've largely solved/mitigated these problems, thank Jesus. For my suggestions, I'm assuming your in college because of the chemistry references. If I'm wrong, then oh well. For the distractions, I realized that there's just too much crap at home to do for me to be able to do homework there. So,...

I also get very distracted studying with other people in the room, especially if my back is to them because I'm overly self-conscious. It bothers me more if it's a quiet space with few people than if it's really noisy because in noise I don't pay attention to specific things. So one suggestion is to find a better study space. Have you tried meditation? I think this helps me with the above problem; however, you have to be...
