Thread: How to deal with payroll trolls...

Started 3 weeks, 2 days ago by ny_fury
When trolls come on this board, complaining about the Yankees payroll, they should realize. 1) The Yankees have EARNED that money through years of success, and the yankee owner, UNLIKE many owners who DONT CARE if their team wins or loses, likes to SPEND that EARNED money. 2) Due to the Yankees WINNING constantly, they always end up with bad draft picks. The Yankees should be praised in ...

Trade the farm for Halladay and Webb and sign Lackey (5yrs $100mil) and Wolf (3yrs $45mil) Rotation: CC, Halladay, Webb, AJ, Lackey and have Wolf as insurance as long guy until you need another starter. Put Joba and Hughes in the pen with Mo and also sign Dotel (2 yrs $12mil) Sign Matsui, Bay, Figgins, Scutaro and...

Angels got beat fair and square. Money can't buy championships, but it sure does help.

yanksgo8 replied 3 weeks, 1 day ago
You're right. Tell that to the 2002 Angels, the 2004 Red Sox, the 2007 Red Sox, and the 2008 Phillies.

I would add that small market teams can win and have won. Nobody will come close to the Atlanta Braves winning 14 consecutive NL East titles and they are not a big market team. The Florida Marlins have won two world championships and might have won more if their cheapskate owners did not dismantle their team after winning. If money is all it takes too win, when is the last time the Mets, ...

I like to threaten to raise the payroll even more to further disgust them. They can always take up knitting as a hobby.

The angels should keep figgy, one of their 3 remaining players for 2002 team. The Yankees have more players with 5 rings then the angels do with 1.

It is do-able, no doubt. However, the Cubs did the do-able in signing Alfonso Soriano and keeping guys like Aramis Ramirez, Derrek Lee, Carlos Zambrano, Ted Lilly, Rich Harden, etc. Now they are in a financial crisis. Now the Yankees would never do something like that in the off-season, they make wise moves, moves that help aid their weaknesses. Example: Last year, they upgraded their 1B ...

Btw, a large payroll doesnt help win chamionships, talent does. How one obtains this talent can be two ways. 1) Spend money 2) Lose every game of the season and maintain some sort of profit this will result in 1) Veteran type A and B 2) Young 1st round draft picks respectively of course. Now Veterans and Young players are similar in risks, cause both can get hurt depending on whether they are too old or if they have not played an entire...

For all the PAYROLL TROLLS ever .... I would love to see a rule ... 95% of ALL REVENUE SHARING monies must be spent directly on baseball operations by each team receiving same. Oh the hue and cry of the owners in places like KC, Florida Marlin land, Oakland and all the others who take the money home instead of plowing it back.
