You're obviously correct that keeping criminals in jail would cut back on crime. The graph doesn't note what the prior arrests were for, however. Murder? Funny cigarettes? Jaywalking? Illegal downloads? I have no idea where I'm going with this. Have a good evening, Bears.

The best research I've read is "More guns, less crime" by John Lott. The title may be a slight variation of that. The Cato institute also has a study that shows the same thing.
