Thread: How tall/how much do you weigh? Do you fit?

I am looking into the possibility of buying a Miata. From what I remembered, I was not able to fit into the older Miatas but thats the style I like. I fit into the second gen ones snugly. I am 6'4" and about 310-320. I carry a lot of weird in my thighs and stomach areas. Wondering if there are any other bigger people driving Miatas and how they fit. Could you see daily driving it? I am ...
I'm 6'3" and 205 and, apart from my knee bumping the wheel from time to time it's fine for me. Also I taught my best friend to drive a manual in it the other day and he's 6'4" and said it was fine also. It's my daily driver as well and I am quite comfortable
First and foremost, you should do something about all that weird in your thighs and stomach. A lot of us in the Miata community have weird in our heads, we obsess over these cars a lot, but weird in our thighs and stomach, don't see that often.
All joking aside, I am 5'10-11" and really underweight, 145. I fit fine. I have bigger friends, 6'2-3" and the one who actually wanted to drive it, ...
6'2", 210, 36" inseam, size 13EEE feet. The only problem I had was leg room, solved with the raise-the-front-of-the-seat mod. Other than that, it fits me like a glove...a fitted, driving glove...
I'm 6'4 240 lbs and I get by alright. My hair is usually exposed to the wind, but I have enough room once I position myself properly. You uh, might need to buy an aftermarket steering wheel and seat to be able to steer.
A friend autocrossed mine, and though just under 6', he's certainly heavier than you. He jokes the whole driver compartment is his bucket seat. His time wasn't bad, for three people up. The guy knows how to drive.
The seat is modifiable by cutting the foam cleverly, and there are aftermarket seats that give more leg and more head room. A smaller or further back wheel (spacer) helps thigh room. ...

6'1", 240 lbs, with 33" inseam and size 10 feet. I fit fine, although with some foam removed from the seat bottom and back, and the e-brake handle bent over a smidge, I fit even finer. I do not fit in an NB, as they have even less room inside, but I'd say give it a try, find a locl dealer with an NA Miata for sale and take on for a test drive and see what you think. There are creative things that...
Frankly, at 6'4" and 300lbs, you're not going to fit comfortably IMHO. There comes a point when big guys are just not ever going to be comfortable. I'm 6'2", 210lbs and it's a snug but comfortable fit. The only way to ever know is to drive one and decide for yourself.
6'2" 280# 34" inseam, and size 14 shoes. I fit alright but fit much better without the shoes! Like Tom says ,you have to drive one yourself and see how you like it. Where in Wisconsin are you?

I think the answer lies in doing a few different mods. I'm really excited about the Pedal mod as it will make a huge difference for me. I've always wondered why Mazda couldn't have built a slightly bigger car! they did, its called a 6! lol sorry had to

DING! +12 Quote: I've always wondered why Mazda couldn't have built a slightly bigger car! I doesn't have to be a bigger car. The MGB was the same size and yet there was MUCH more leg room AND room to move the seat back even further. There was also a much larger and usable parcel shelf. I am aware...

Works great - much more room now and I still have my door pull....
My last 2 seater was an MG Midget. WAY smaller than a Miata. More leg room front to back. Side to side a bit less. Rear deck much more functional. Not as much fun to drive. 47HP 1500 engine.

I'll post back when I get the Gas pedal mod completed. I never "heel & toe"... so I don't worry about that. Not to split hairs in the safety area or bash the MGB (I had a 68 and a 76) but in addition to the rear...
I just raised the front of the seat, not the back. It puts my legs at a much better angle that frees up about 2 inches or so. Search on 'raise the front seat' and you will see many people that have gained more room as a result.
I seem to recall hearing of a particularly tall and/or large person some time ago removing the seat entirely and just sitting on a cushion to drive the Miata. The earlier NA Miatas had all the seat belt attaching points on the car and not the seat itself, so theoretically the seat belt could be used without the seat, although safety may be another question.
Sorry if the following is TMI. 5"8", about 158#. But with 33-34" inseam and an iffy back. I couold really stretch in the MG-B, although I recall thinking the seat was a bit too flat. Occasional back issues A little cramped in the X1-9, but the knee-splayed position worked well. Never had a back problem. Of course, by then I had wised up & moved my wallet to the front pocket. Soon after getting the 1st...
Thanks for the replies guys. I am in southeastern WI in a town called Dousman, which is just south of Oconomowoc. I am planning to drop some weight too. I've read some of the mods that can be done and just don't know if I'll fit. Btw, it was late when I typed up the post lol, obviously I meant weight, and now it won't let me go back and edit..
