Thread: How should I invest 15k?

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by davidv90

you can mail it to me. i will get it back to you at some point. have you looked into options like CDs, or savings accounts that pay you interest?

You could take a long position in some commodity via a commodity ETF. Given that things are looking inflationary for the foreseeable future, that might not be bad. Commodity futures are probably out of your reach with only 15k. You could invest in a local startup business. I just read the book I Will Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi and I thought it was good. It got me to start taking action on my finances. Who know's if the advice in the book will work out for me long term. I think it will but I can't really know for sure but I do feel it's better to be taking action on your finances than being passive.

Maybe too high. I would say the opposite - small private businesses that require work to maintain are often valued more like 2x earnings, not 5x. Depending on how you're feeling, you may also want to consider using a service like Kiva . I've made a habit of donating 10% of my income to charities for some time now. As my income's been growing over the last few years, though, I've been running the increased donations through Kiva. Getting multiple uses out of the same dollars is a great feeling!
