I just read the book I Will Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi and I thought it was good. It got me to start taking action on my finances. Who know's if the advice in the book will work out for me long term. I think it will but I can't really know for sure but I do feel it's better to be taking action on your finances than being passive.

Depending on how you're feeling, you may also want to consider using a service like Kiva . I've made a habit of donating 10% of my income to charities for some time now. As my income's been growing over the last few years, though, I've been running the increased donations through Kiva. Getting multiple uses out of the same dollars is a great feeling!
