I was wondering how most people hook their spawn bags? I have been using very small treble hooks and usually hook the bag with a single hook and leave the other 2 out. I am considering switching to a single hook only. I have not had many hookups this way and seem to lose lots of fish. I am kind of new to spawn fishing and could use some help. I am doing some NWP fishing soon!! Thanks!
#6 or #8 Diaichi. I wrap the hook around the knot on my bags. FYI - last week when I was out there was a guy using #14 trebles and he was 0-7, I was 4 for 6 with several gut hooks. He just plain could not hook up - even with a major pole bender. No need to use small hooks at this time - maybe spring when they get fussy.
Eagle Claw style #042 in size 10,12, or even 14 depending on where I'm at. In clear water, I'll go to a size 12, in dirtier a 10 is fine. I'll only use 14 if its extremely bright and the water is extremely clear. Oh yeah, I always hook just under the knot.

EXACTLY!! That's what ...
This time of year, I usually use a #8 wide gap or even a #6. I like to use big choker bags this time of year, so I bump up my hook size. In cold clear water early winter or spring, I use smaller bags and bring my hook size down to a #10 or sometimes a #12
