Thread: How old should the default view of threads go back?

The default view on forums is currently set to one year (meaning only threads dating back to the last year show up). Users can change that, but it annoyingly doesn't save your preference and goes back to the one year default. How far back do people like to see threads go back? I think that if a topic hasn't been replied to or isn't stickied, and is over a year old, then it's just wasting space.

I'll say two or three months, tops, for the default view. Anything older than that shouldn't be immediately visible, but the older threads should not be purged from the system. There've been several topics that are years old that are well worth looking back on.
