Thread: How many of you atheists understand the beliefs you espouse?
Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by bevo784
Some atheists that I know are intellectuals who have a hard time convincing themselves that there is a God, but would be very happy to find out that there was a God. They are tormented by it constantly.Other atheists I know are people of average intelligence who have no idea why they think what they think. This insecurity makes them militant toward people of faith and generally unwilling to ...
Why are all Christians so concerned with our spirituality? You've chosen the path of faith over logic, belief in the mystical over the rational - great have at it. Enjoy your merry myths - why do you bother does my lack of faith some how make you insecure in yours?
i believe the ancient greeks worshipped the proper gods. being as we've stolen 90% of their culture for ourselves, i see no reason why their religious beliefs shouldn't be included
Why are all Christians so concerned with our spirituality? You've chosen the path of faith over logic, belief in the mystical over the rational - great have at it. Enjoy your merry myths - why do you bother does my lack of faith some how make you insecure in yours? -----------------------------It doesn't. It bothers me when dumb atheists try to tear down my faith. I'm concerned with your ...
I'm not an atheist, but you need to realize that there is more evidence against a gods existence than to support it.........it's that simple. -------------------------I agree with you actually. The physical evidence for atheism is somewhat stronger than the physical evidence for Christianity. Unlike most atheists, I've actually studied it in great detail. However, there is no upside to ...
Why are all Christians so concerned with our spirituality? You've chosen the path of faith over logic, belief in the mystical over the rational - great have at it. Enjoy your merry myths - why do you bother does my lack of faith some how make you insecure in yours? lol. There are like a dozen threads on the front page right now ridiculing Christians. Seems like it's the other way around.
Does that include the atheistic belief that there is no God? -------------------------------------------- -----Yup, atheism (for most) is the surrender to scientific authority that they actually know what they are talking about this time. This includes theories that have absolutely no proof whatsoever. There are at least 2 major problems with the atheist point of view. #1, there is absolutely ...
Uh...a solution to the problem, as in absolute proof of the existence or the lack of God. I wasn't implying that you, as an atheist, were a problem. It's like you want to believe I don't like you just because you are atheist. As I've said multiple times, I have very good, close, friends who I respect immensely who identify themselves as atheist or agnostic.
Well, I love a good riddle, but excuse me for not really understanding what you are talking about. I went back and read your first post and it looks like you are saying that because they can't achieve proof of God's lack of existence, they supply the proof of God's existence. I don't understand the purpose of intentionally making it so difficult to understand, though. Do you doubt me atheist? TigerTowner I'm an...
If a painter buys a canvas - and has yet to paint upon it - does the canvas contain "nothing" or rather, is the canvas "nothingness"? TigerTowner If there is no canvas or painter, where does the painter and brush and canvas come from? It's not to be thought of as literal there parrot. The point is - just because a uniform system exists - does not mean that it is nothingness... Like your mind - it might be...
If there is no canvas or painter, where does the painter and brush and canvas come from? -----------------------------------Indeed It applies to both beliefs. Something had to always be there.
Newbie, maybe he is just baiting you...I doubt you would even know, seeing as how you believe in magic and angels and flying carpets... ------------------------Personal attacks are sure sign someone has been cornered. Why would he bait me if here weren't an atheist? Are you saying he is a hindu just trying to get my goat? I'm leaving Mac alone because clearly he's over his head on this issue... I mean, he didn't even...
OK. Then why do you argue about it? That's my question. -------------------------------------- Well, because I enjoy it for one. I always enjoy seeing different perspectives on any issue. Also, I'm searching for the truth. Debate sharpens and refines your positions and allows you to be more sure about them. Searching for the truth?? So you are an Athiest. Religious people believe they have already found it...
"True atheists don't bother to to argue with believers."------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discrimination_against_atheists#Modern_era This is why you must argue. When your president is saying thing like this "No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they...
some people like hard evidence, simple as that Which hard evidence exists that shows definitively that there is no God? And don't say something like "bad things happen to good people". You said hard evidence. Surely you have this evidence at your finger tips. Anyone have a photo or video of God? A recording of God's voice? Maybe a journal left behind? Any physical proof of existence. You can't say...

The difference b/t atheists & christians is we... The difference b/t atheists & christians is we [atheists] welcome opposition to our beliefs. Try and prove us wrong. We like the challenge. 10:48 AM Apr 10th from twitterrific
