Thread: How do you "find" good guitar deals on the internet?

Started 4 weeks ago by doc oc
What is your method? Google shopping? Another engine? The deals thread only? Something else? I'm just curious how people come up with the stuff they post. If you think about it, there is a lot of benefit in us all knowing how to do this well so that more stuff ends up in the good deals thread.

Either on craigslist or on ebay... I'll look for local stuff on ebay and ask if I can pick it up to save on shipping. Depending on the item, you can save a good bit of change. I used to make a couple to several hundred dollars extra month by buying bikes on eBay, then selling them on craigslist.

I use craigslist and the local music scene website's (gainesvillebands.com) classified forum the most. Every now and again I might go to ebay, but rarely. Though I do have a couple guitars I bought off ebay as well, most of mine are local finds. Way safer to be able to see the guitar and pay for it in person.

Depends on how much time I have to kill. Sometimes the best deals have a spelling error in the title so folks that search won't even find it.

You could become a contrarian like me. Ebay is an online autioneer in a world of subjective values. I decided early on that rather than butt heads with people driving the price of mainstream popular guitars through the ceiling, that I would educate myself about darkhorse brands (User Reviews, word of mouth, forumites, trade publications) and then target those makes that I felt were severely ...
