You could try a search for salt flats, that might give you more results.

try land speed records as a fact, always done on salt plains. Areas and size of salt plains might be another fact

Look at Lake Nakuru in Kenya and The Camargue in France. Try the Bonneville Salt Flats. They should help too.

Here's the location and a photograph of the Salt Plains of Oklahoma in the United States, followed by a link to a page with a few facts about the Salt Plains, including day/night temperature range: http://www.okstate.edu/artsci/lexen/LExEn.htm

Yes, googling "salt plains" seems to give a wide range of info: http://www.spectacularnwt.com/wheret...alo/saltpla ins Wood Buffalo Park is a World Heritage Site, apparently! and the Flickr site provides photos of salt plains: http://www.flickr.com/photos/antonka...76218492218 22/ I hope you've got up early to benefit from all this combined knowledge!

Well done - I hope your science teacher will be suitably impressed; don't forget to make the research your own by checking out an atlas etc and consolidating what you've learnt from googling.
