Thread: Homemade Applesauce...

Started 2 months, 3 weeks ago by KITTYO4
I made some homemade applesauce this weekend. It is just apples and water so to figure out points would I just say 1/2 of applesauce is equal to 1/2 of sliced apples? I wasn't exactly sure how to do this...I also am thinking about making more to...it turned out really good!

Take your ingredient list and divide it by the number of servings. For example, if you used 6 apples and got 8 servings, one serving would be the points for 3/4 of an apple.

dang it! That's a good idea!! I totally didn't think of that! I'll have to do that next time. I know I used a half bushel and that it made about 11 freezer bags full but I didn't measure how much went into each bag!! I sure wish I could use my brain and think of these things myself sometimes!!

I love, love, love homemade applesauce! The apples we like are just coming in at the orchards in N. GA. We are giving it a couple more weeks and we will be headed up there to load up on fresh apples. We have a freezer in our garage and that thing will be stacked full of containers of applesauce!

Jaunice, my mom will be coming up from SC to do the same thing. Would you believe I've never gotten a jar of it from her, not sure why (meaning I've never asked)

I would just count it as 1/2 cup applesauce, without sugar...that is what they have on the online calculator Basically, 1/2 cup applesauce (with no sugar added) is the same as 1 apple (small or medium)

that's what I did this time around. Next time I'll do as Kevin said and see how it exactly comes out!
