Hey Philip, why do you want to do that. Just kidding. In the measure after the cautionary stuff, leave the time signature what it is but create a different signature for display, making it the same as it was before the cautionary stuff. But why do you want to do that? Bil
Depending on the situation, it might work better to create an extra measure, change the time signature to match the previous one, select Always Hide in Measure Attributes, make sure the default rest isn't showing (you can do this with staff styles), then in Measure Attributes make the barline invisible, reduce the measure width to zero and deselect Include In Measure Numbering.
Hi gents, Thanks for the fast replies. Bill, unfortunately I can't get your solution to work. In past experience, Finale treats the "display" time signature as the controlling time signature for the purpose of whether it should be shown or hidden. Were you able to get it to work somehow? Vaughan, I can see how your solution would work. But, it makes my head hurt :) Is there not a simpler way?...
> Bill, unfortunately I can't get your solution to work. It worked for me. Let's say the first system ends in 3/4 and the first measure of the second system is 4/4. If I make the 4/4 measure display as 3/4 then the cautionary change doesn't happen. (Example below.) Bill Yikes! I just checked my upload and it gives you the dreaded Snow Leopard Tiff Bomb, so DON'T open IT. If you want to see...
Hi Bill, it's a misunderstanding. What I actually need is the time signature is the same in both regions. So I want to force the time signature to "Always Show" in the second region, but not have a cautionary time signature display at the end of the system from the first region. Any other ideas? Thank you, Bill! I don't think I have ever unchecked this before. Now I have to just make sure there are no key changes within the excerpts, since it's a document-wide setting. As long as this is the case, then this will work. Thanks again.
I'm sorry, my excitement was premature and I typed the wrong thing in my last post. I typed "key changes" when I meant time signatures. Anyway, it's moot. Of course, unchecking "Display Courtesy Time Signatures" turns off time courtesy time signatures document-wide, which is not exactly what I need. I actually need the cautionaries to display when the time signature does, in fact change. So to...
