Thread: Hidden from me?

Started 1 month, 4 weeks ago by Niad
Hi all I have managed to get the results of my neck and thoracic spine MRIs and it states that I have loss of normal lordosis and now going into kyphosis instead and mild foraminal narrowing. Also, disk degeneration in both my cervical spine, thoracic and lumbar. All the way down. I am only 21, started with back pain and leg symptoms and now bladder problem (urinary retention) at 17....

I would much appreciate a bit of advice on this if anyone has actually had a similar experience or suffers with the same thing. I feel really alone right now and it seems no one has any ideas...or wants to hide them from me...I cannot trust anybody. Regards Niad

Niad, I remember you posting several times with this problem. I'm sorry you aren't any better. The back stuff is new to me so sorry I don't have any answers for you. I know you are TOO young for all of this and I hope you can find a doctor who will listen and have a remedy for you. Keep looking for a doctor who will take you seriously. Good luck, Linda

Niad you must get with a doctor that will take you serious and listen to you regarding all your symptoms. If you are having bladder problems this is something that should not be put off. Can someone suggest another doctor for you to see? Back pain is so painful and the longer you put off treatment you could possibly end up with permanent damage and you are too young for that. Yes we all usually ...

Hi, Linda and Linda. Thanks for both of your replies. The radiologist also said I was too young for this amount of degeneration and that he thought it was unusual. Unfortunately every doctor I have gone to pretty much has never taken me seriously that's the problem I keep having... They all think I am lying, that I am making it up...they keep thinking I am seeking drugs ...

Niad I am so sorry for what you have gone through and still going through with NO relief. I do understand how you feel when doctors don't believe you and make you feel like you are hunting drugs. Back 24 years ago after I was involved in a car accident which did damage to my back I had a couple of doctors that treated me very hateful. One orthopedic doctor's first question to me was "Are you ...

Hi, Linda Thanks for your reply. It seems a little common for doctors to act quite impersonal and judgemental these days and I really am not entirely sure why and feel sorry for what you have gone through and also for what others may also be going through with doctors like these and would definitely like to be a patient advocate as I feel it is the patients that are being taken ...

sorry to hear that you are having so many problems. the only thing I can say is that when I go to the nurosurgeon they ask if I have any touble with bladder or bowel retention. Drs can be very deceptive and hate to lower themselves to our level and it is frustrating at the least.

Niad replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Hi, jih49. Thanks for your reply. I totally agree, doctors seem to see themselves on a much higher level than their patients and I really do think this sort of viewpoint they hold should be eradicated as it only serves to alienate their patients and result in unacceptable care given and the patient feeling alone and like they are worrying over trivial matters when really in reality...

glad to hear from you, I honestly think that what I and many more of us have encountered is poor quality physicians and or ones who just are in it for the insurance money. When you have a dr and you constantly complain of pain and he tells you to go to therapy and you still tell him of the pain and he still tells you that he doesn't see anything wrong, but yet you go to another dr and he looks at...

Hi, jlh49 Thanks for your reply. Oddly enough mine were in the UK so insurance didn't really come into it but they were some really poor quality physicians compared to others. One doctor told me that he would have put me in cognitive behavioural therapy! I saw that as an instant negative and felt really insulted when he said that as that said to me that he didn't believe I was in ...

Hi, jlh49 Thanks for getting back. I totally agree, there does seem to be some sort of problem as regards issue of meds and what you have said does seem to me to be true as my one GP prescribed anything, even if it would not be beneficial in my eyes. The problem I had was that they had not officially diagnosed anything and had no proof as to know whether what they were prescribing would be beneficial or even make it worse or cause new...

hello; good to hear from you. The issue of meds is always a controversial one, once the drs reach a certain point they either don't know what else to do except try to make you feel better or mask their failure, and this on top of my idea that their egos won't let them refer you to someone who could do something different. I know the feeling of pain while sitting and standing, unlike most people I have a high pain tolerance and that...

Niad- I am sorry to hear of your bad experiences. (I personally am not a fan of modern medecine except in emergency situations) Here is my only suggestion to you: My whole family goes to a local chiropractor who treats the patient based on the issues they are experiencing and what is CAUSING them--rather than most medical doctors who prescribe medicines that only repress symptoms, while in the mean time causing worse symptoms than the patient...
