Thread: Help please.. I'm a little out of my comfort zone...

Started 1 month, 4 weeks ago by RED.86.951
Sorry for the trivial nonsense here, but I have been a VW guy for the past 10 years and within the past 3 years I purchased my 951 and I am still learning (so bare with me)... But I found a gent near my parents house who has a 1976 911 turbo, with 53k on the clock. motor is out of the car and it is pretty much in parts. However he claims everything is there? The body is pretty solid; or at least...

Any pictures? Aren't the 1976 models the first year of production? In good shape, it could bring a good amount. Getting it in good shape from your description could take a good amount. I'd say $10-12, but I'm guessing. Just looked at another thread and 1975 was the first year. I know the early cars are desireable though. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-9...-complete.h tml

I was going to say $12K too.

Why is the motor apart? Greatly affects price.

RED.86.951 replied 1 month, 4 weeks ago
Yes 1976 is the first year the turbo was brought to the united states. I am going to talk to the guy on Wednesday to see what the deal with the car is... So if i could pick it up for 12k? that would be a good price? I am pretty sure he is the original owner... just wondering why he pulled it apart myself?? What do good condition RUNNING 1976 turbos sell for? trying to figure out of it ...

With you doing the engine work, it can still cost $10-15k for parts and machine work so figure that in. If there is body and interior work, figure another $10-15. I'd say they would go for $30-35K in great shape. Maybe a little more, when the economy gets better, they will go for more. Anybody else have an idea?

Be careful - you could be upside down very fast with a project like this.

Well its a good thing that what you hear and what you see are rarely often on the same page... The car is rougher than I expected but still isn’t bad considering! here are some pictures... let me know what you guys think... What is it worth? all the motor parts are there... new pistons, new turbo all new seals... pretty much a rebuild kit.. interior is all there but not in place... The guy who ...

Well, it's probably not going to be as expensive as getting caught with a hooker by your wife!

Red, Sorry to hear the deal fell through....I missed many a car through actions of my own or the seller. I always found the research and knowledge acquired while chasing unobtainable cars to be very helpful when a purchase is finally made. There is a nice 79(?) @ Rayco in Wilkes-Barre that I think can be had reasonably. Enjoy the chase....... Bill P.S. If your up in the area looking at something and want another eye on it....let me...

Where is your ATM? Alaska? I can't say that I blame him if it had two weeks with no deposit. I sell things all of the time on CL and I never hold anything without a cash deposit.

well since you are going for it let me be the first to help point you in the right directions... call Kirk at http://www.allzim.com/ he can get you pretty much all the parts and seals needed to restore the the whole car. some Euro H4 headlights with paintable trims are a nice upgrade if they have yet to be done or if the current headlights are in poor condition. get the FACTORY rear 1/4 stone guards and not the cheap aftermarket ones. you may...

Well don't keep us in suspense...did you bring this car home yet? I know a lot if us were against this purchase, but if you have indeed bought the car, have you done a parts inventory yet? Is she all there? Curious monkeys want to know...... Mark
