I have inherited some old reel to reel tapes recorded by my father in the 1960s & 70s, some of which may have interesting family recordings. I would like to get these put onto CDs, but have been unable to find anyone who has a reel to reel tape recorder / player. I live in Birmingham, and am wondering if any of your members living in or near Birmimgham might be able to help? Many ...

Hi Cathy. Welcome to the forum. I assume from your posting that you're not interested in getting involved with buying a recorder and attempting it yourself. Hi Cathy I also not near Birmingham but in NW London, If Roger cant do it then I may be able to help, If you're coming to London then you're welcome to visit and we'll transfer them together. Michael

As a third alternative I could transfer the tapes. Although I'm in Bradford I'll be visiting relatives in south Birmingham next Sunday afternoon. Let me know, by private message if I can be of help. Keith

Hi Cathy, I have the necessary hardware and would be willing to help. I wouldn't want you to risk sending your tapes in the post, a) because they might go missing and b) because they might get accidentally damaged or erased by being in close proximaty to a magnet whilst in transit. I spend two or three days a week most weeks based in Cirencester and could perhaps meet you somewhere to ...

Cathy hasn't been back since the day after she started the thread so Roger is probably right.
