Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by YUNGDEW
So I was low on fuel today I went to get some gas just to make it home, as I went to start my car it started idling rough and then cut off. I started it again and NOPE it would not start it just cranked, and after a couple of tries of doing this I drained my battery! I need some help guys PLEASE!! Please don't say new fuel pump please! Thanks!!

If you ran it to low on gas, you might have ruined the fuel filter. First, try replacing the fuel filter.

if you ran it out of gas, you're going to need to add at least 3-4 gallons. there is the actual fuel pump, then a jet pump to accomodate the saddle bag design of the gas tank. try that first. do you run it to empty often?

Comes to find out my fuse #17 was popped!!

outkast replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
the last guy that ran out of gas had that happen too...then it kept pooping...I think he ended up replacing the pump.

Quik LS replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
yes - the gas actually keeps the pump cool - so without it, the pump over-heats and potentially is damaged before the fuse pops.

Man that sucks. I ran mine down to 1 mile to empty and was going to do a drive through thinking I could make it and decided not to. After that I read all this stuff about running it low and never again have I or will I come close

Okay I got my fuel pump thing today, How do you remove the rubber rings to access the fuel pump?

when the fuel gage tells you that you are low on gas, it's time to filler up!! This is a lesson on what can happen to an expensive fuel pump when you push your luck.
