Is the flight far? If it is I would totally get the seat next to me because I'd like to be as comfortable as possible. And wow congrats on the weight loss!!!!!

Only a 2 hour flight from Birmingham to Chicago and I am flying on Thanksgiving day and have been told the flights are usually less crowded the day of the holiday because most people are already where their going.

if it's a major airline, they might even give measurements of their seats online somewhere in the fine print, or perhaps call and ask them

At 5'5" and well over 300 lbs I flew many times, including internationally, and never needed two seats. I carried most of my weight in my torso and upper body though--not hips/butt/thighs so it may depend. I agree with Alaskan, if you're worried get the seat measurements and check it out. Enjoy your trip and congratulations on your fantastic results!

Just noticed that you said you fit OK in movie theater seats and booths, so truly, I think you will be fine.

I think if you are as tall as you are at your weight you should be fine. Especially if you can fit in movie seats and restaurant booths. Good Luck, and way-to-go on your losses, you are doing excellent. Susan

I travel quite a bit for my work and at 315 I flew numerous times on long distances---and I am a pear shape who was biggest in my hip area, too! I never needed to buy an extra seat BUT i will say it was uncomfortable. Occasionally people who had to sit next to me would give me "the look" and that was humiliating. Just remember that if there are open seats, no one will come and arrest you if ...

Last year I had my first plane flight. I was stressed for months about it. My husband and friends were with me so it was a bit easier thinking about the seating. I fit fine. All that worry was for nothing. I am 5'8, I was 275-280 at the time. 58-60 inches in the hips, 42 "waist and 43 gut. It was 4 hr flight and I ws very comfortable. I had a window seat which helps because you can lean ...

I am flying back to Indiana from California in about 2 weeks myself which I do all the time. I weight about 300 lbs and I buy the extra seat. If you fly Southwest you will be able to pre board in the beginning with the handicap boarding to ensure you get the extra seat beside you. I like to fly the bulk head (first row of seats) and it is easier to get when you pre-board. I bought a ...
