My current PC had died, and i have decided it's time to buy a new one. Below are the best desktop packages i could find, my budget is approx £700. Should i wait for the release of DX11 cards and Windows 7, also what is the difference between Q8300 and Q9400 processor? For my money I would go for the top one, the Dell Studio D005418, the processor speeds are close enough not to be noticeable, though the second one has more cache. The ram is also not a consideration on the 2nd one, 4Gb Ram on a 32bit OS won't be fully usable anyway and the screen and graphics card are a higher spec. Just realised for the Inspiron, i can add Vista 64 BIT for no extra cost. Also after contacting Dell support, i've been told that both of the above Dell packages offer a free Windows 7 upgrade. As for the Studio, adding a Q9400 would be too expensive, i can however add Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8400 processor (3.00GHz, 1333MHz, 6MB cache. In your opinion would a Q8300 and 6gb ram be ideal to ...

I have Windows 7 running quite happily on a 1Ghz centrino with 1Gb Ram so yes, that would be fine.
