For my money I would go for the top one, the Dell Studio D005418, the processor speeds are close enough not to be noticeable, though the second one has more cache. The ram is also not a consideration on the 2nd one, 4Gb Ram on a 32bit OS won't be fully usable anyway and the screen and graphics card are a higher spec. Just realised for the Inspiron, i can add Vista 64 BIT for no extra cost. Also after contacting Dell support, i've been told that both of the above Dell packages offer a free Windows 7 upgrade.
