Heavy Cleaning... Well, it all started as a simple clutch job.
BUT... doing the clutch with the cab on was becoming a real pain. And those cab mounts looked so much easier to remove!! And then this needed cleaning. That needed to be replaced... and uh. Thanks for the care package on its way from EI!!! Attached Images clean.jpg (323.8 KB, 8 views)...
My inspiration... Rather that re-posting pics, here is the original thread outlining my clutch disaster. Good pics!
The clutch was a total loss. I even had to machine the flywheel.
Now, the list goes on for modifications and some improvements. I bought the vehicle with a fair amount of modifications, but many were never finished. A lot was broken, and well... you ...
Dash idea for you. Cut a rectangle out completely removing the whole dash area. Reinforce the edges of the cut out rectangle with flat strap if you desire. Either using the piece you cut out.... or replaing it with a removable..... vanrished wood, aluminum, or rrrr? with all the holes cut exactly where you want them for the gauges you will use etc. Makes for easy electircal rewire, gauge ...
Hey George, in the last thread you were chastising the guy for raising his top to clear his head, LOL. Your Unimog is calling, saying "fix me, fix me, fix me!!!" *
Bigmellon, that's going to be an awesome truck!
Bob
* PS, so is mine........
Thatnks Bob! I am just hoping to make it a bit more reliable. She was running pretty well before the clutch fiasco. This was just the push it needed to make it truly street legal without having to look over my shoulder!
You mean it was supposd to have turn signals AND functional brake lights offcier?

This is the flasher that I purchased for the truck. It is the SHO-ME Model No. 11.1005STT . You have to specify the "old version" to get it to have the flasher built in to the unit. Otherwise the "new" version is designed to be used with an existing flasher and without a seperate flasher, the turn signals just stay on without flashing.
I have ordered directly from Able2 in the past, but...

Kyle, shop vac and sump pump discharge hose come in a gazillion sizes, most black ribbed plastic. I'm running shop vac hose across the dash on my 416 and it looks stock.

Original full disc type still in it and works fine. Smooth to drive, easy petal, my favorite. These clutch discs even have a flat spring...

With this head, the compression is 9:1 with casting number of 250 on the head itself. I recently purchased another head on eBay from a 280S. This again does...
I'm so glad it went to some aficionados. Lord knows you guys have got some serious resources to breath new life into it. Kyle is way cool. My son was amped that he is an Eagle Scout. I can't wait to see it after you guy's work with it. I really tried to find a good one when I sourced it in Germany. I think $3k was fair. I really haven't the time to wrench on it like it should be. Let me know if you guys ever need someone to...
