It can be done, I did, but it require relieving the hand guard be trial and error. I did it by mocking everything up, marking it with a scribed line on the hand guard and then removing material with a router. I did it with a standard Mossberg shield. I had to remove about 3/16" off the entire top of the fore stock. It was pretty easy to do, but it isn't for the timid as you can ruin the stock. I figured that I could always get another stock if I screwed up, but I didn't. The word is that a heat shield for the 930 SPX will be coming out in the future from Mossberg. Who knows when that will be.

I modified one of those cheap universal "John Masen" heatshields. Only cost $12, and a just a bit of dremeling the insided of the stock and trimming the shield... Looks great and seems to be working well.
