Thread: Head gasket for o-rings

Started 1 year, 3 months ago by TYTILIDIE
Searched about this but found nothing. I have a set of vortecs that came o-ringed. Initially I was going to get some SCE's they recommended since my block is not set up for it. Well now it turns out, I am buying the block they came off of. So essentially I really just need to know what type of head gasket I need to get. Any ideas here?

Usually the block gets o-ringed and the heads are receiver grooved. Check the depth of the o-ring and if possible, surface them and use cometics. If not feasible, use the Flatout rubber coated copper gaskets ..

I run o-ringed heads with cometic MLS gaskets and no receiver grooves in the block. Seems to work pretty well. Why do you want to run o-ringed heads? Are you having a problem lifting them or pushing coolant?

Yeah, o-rings really aren't typically needed for these engines like they are for Gen III/IV V8's and the Buick V6's due to them lacking a head bolt per cyliner. Unless you're going to be running crazy boost though.
