Hi everyone, This week's question is whether you have started your Christmas shopping. For my friends in the UK who I visit over the Christmas period I always leave my shopping to the last minute and usually head down to Oxford Street close to Christmas eve. Most people would think that this would be a nightmare but I actually like the Christmas buzz and atmospehere! When do you shop? Do you ...
It is waaayyyy too early for that, we just got through Halloween. the shops are all up for it and everything is decorated, but by the time Xmas comes around you are sick of it all. I mean, they play xmas music from NOW in the malls. Mad if you ask me. I start my shopping a week into December, on a nice and snowy evening. Unless I need to order something from the internet, then yes, I ...
You're a brave man. I find Christmas markets are pretty good for little bits like scarves, gloves, candles and food gifts, so am holding off til those start.
So glad you admitted shopping at the last minute, I do that too. Also love the atmosphere at that time, but often regret not having collected enough for everybody and always need more cash. Maybe this thread will get me into it sooner. Inspiration is key for me, can't predict that
Danny, that's exactly what I do but NOT this year!! I always overspend when I do it last minute and I end up really stressing myself out! At the end of the month, I will do it all on the internet and pray that the postal strike doesn't mess things up too much!
I mostly shop online as when I use UK sites to shop they have good deals on postage and it's cheaper than buying things here and shipping them from here. This year I'm going to the uk just before xmas, so for the spanish side I will buy gifts there, everyone else in the uk will still get theirs from Amazon. Although Naked wines is a new option I am willing to use for gift ideas.
I do mine online as much as I can now. It is too hard to shop around 2 young kids. I also keep an eye out for toys going on sale, and buy them then. I have already bought my 3 year old a kiddie digital camera and saved £14 by buying it on sale. I also register with sites I use, and sometimes they email discount codes, so I buy stuff then and put it aside. I am not going over board on the kids, ...
I try to buy the odd gift when I see it throughout October and November , but this year I have not managed much, I have bought some pudding bowls to make Christmas pudding in for gifts but thats about it so far. Oxford Strre close to Christmas Eve... Danny you must be bonkers ...but this year you will have an advantage as you are good at running and so can beat those crowds

I've started already as I had a small windfall last month so got the kids a wii...online bargain...I always start early because money's so tight if I didn't spread it out I couldn't afford gifts and wouldn't have cash left for the xmas fair in george square and trips out to the mountains and panto and other stuff I'd rather be doing with the family than standing in ques full of stressed out......
I have cut down on shopping for my extended family. Last year I sent money to my 2 nieces to buy something for their littlies from us...did they tell me that they had received the money or what they had bought no,there was not a mention.... no acknowledgment at all. Then they didn't turn up for our Christmas gathering. This year, if I see those little ones, I will give their parents some ...
