I have been an astros fan for 40 yrs. of my life and Drayton Mclane is by far the best owner the club has ever had. He has spent money on the team but has also been rewarded by the fans & the City with a new Ballpark that was needed. Now Drayton the Fans need you, we need you to step up & make this team Good again, this would not take much, a couple of starting pitchers, 3rd baseman, catcher ...
I hear what you are saying. One thing Mclane needs to remember is the fans have been filling that stadium every year with record attendance. Everything you said is correct and needs to happen. But the stubborn old coot may do nothing other than cut payroll. It will be a bad mistake on his part, but hey its his money and his team. The team has made subtle moves that indicate that they are ...
I hope I am wrong but Mclane must be he!! bent on fielding a last place team for 2010 or he is living in a dream world. ----------- He seems to have given up on the "champions" idea, but wants a winning season next year. The fans now want more. He needs to ask himself: "What have you done to have a winning season next year?" He may not know how to answer himself.
Like you I have been a life long Colt 45-Astro fan. Mr. McLane is probably the best owner this team has had over its history. He has always had the mentality to win now and has built his team that way. But time has caught up to this team; there are quite a few holes to fill. If anyone out there remembers George Allen when he ran the Washington Redskins and his win now philosophy, it ...
"He needs to ask himself: "What have you done to have a winning season next year?" He may not know how to answer himself." I would be surprised in a winning season next year. We have to hope the Cards slip back with the rest of the division.
"We have to hope the Cards slip back with the rest of the division." I doubt very seriously if that happens. St Louis has a knack for going out and getting the right pieces to mesh with their existing team. Be it pitching or guys like Derosa etc. They will take risks and spend money and sign some pitchers like Garland who will end up winning 15 games for them. They find a way be the ...
I would be surprised in a winning season next year. ----------- Me too, but I'm prepared to pray and light candles every Sunday. It might even be necessary EVERY day. And voodo dolls, and karma, dead chickens, and anything that will help.
"I doubt very seriously if that happens. St Louis has a knack for going out and getting the right pieces to mesh with their existing team. " I have to agree with you, it was only wishful thinking. The Cards are a team that usually goes out and gets a player, or pulls one from their minor league system to fill their needs.
"Me too, but I'm prepared to pray and light candles every Sunday. It might even be necessary EVERY day. And voodo dolls, and karma, dead chickens, and anything that will help. " Well got will have to work his miracles through Mclane. I hope Mclane will be awake. Dead chickens, voodoo dolls ????? Uhhhhhhhhhhhh. no I would stick with god on this one.....
Soon I'll pull out the DVD from 2005, and watch up until we clinch the NLDS. I stop after that. No sense watching the entire DVD. But today is my college Big Game against Cal. Looks like we might even have a chance to win this year. So my fingers are crossed, and I'll wear my Beat Cal sweatshirt. Wish us luck!!!
"I miss baseball.......................even watching the Astros." Yesterday on MLB Network's greatest games they replayed Kerry Wood's 20 strikeout game against the Stros'. I actually watched the whole replay!

Colorado's above .500 ________________________ Sure was, I must have missed that one. OK, so 3 teams were above .500, but I think my point is valid. Thanks for the correction.
