I'm seriously considering making my own birdcage veil, alot of them I have seen so far are either too over the top, or very simple but (I think) very overpriced for what they are, considering I'm having wedding on a very small budget.
I was wondering if anyone else has made theirs, and has any advice or tips? And has anyone got any pics of thier creations? Would love...
Hi Janna, those shoes in your avatar are the same ones that I have bought for my wedding! I also bought the matching bag.
I would love to have a go at trying to make my own too. If you go on google there are sites that can take you through making them step by step.
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the shoe complikment girls, I couldn't believe how much of a bargain they were! I did seriously consider the matching bag, but was being rushed out of the shop by a bored fiance and kids!
I will check out google straight away and let you guys know how I get on x
I made a birdcage veil.
I bought a headband that already had a flower on it from Primark - 98p, then I bought some merry widow veiling from John Lewis (About £1.45 a metre), and followed these instructions, then instead of sewing it on to toupee clips - I sewed the ends onto the alice band.
Cost me about £1.50 in total.

Thanks Bennic, the alice band is a really good idea, would not have thought of it before, I was thinking of attaching it to some sort of hair comb and sewing a silk orchid flower on, but the alice sounds more practical. And so cheap! Bargain!
Whats also good about an alice band is that if you buy an idenitcal one and keep in plain - you have instant hair accessories for after you ditch the veil.
I had two alice bands, and switched them over before the meal.
I made one myself: just got a big flower, a hair clip, glue and some veil. Then I wrapped veil around until it looked about right, glued it to hair clip and glued hair clip to flower - piece of cake!
Oh there is a post somewhere on here from a bride who just got married. I wish I could remember where it was. She looked gorgeous and said that it was so easy, she didn't even sew it, just held it together with a comb. Literally sounded like she wrapped the veil over and cut. If I find the post I will let you know.
There is a bride on alternative who is a dab hand at making things think its either Ceelou or Rebagnall (think that is how you spell it! sorry if i offend) they may help there is a thread on vintage dresses on here very long lots of brides made stuff. x
