I hve a "teapot" yorkie and he is awful!!! I have tried the reward system, and neumerous other training methods to no avail, He will be 2 at christmas and we have just moved. I have to keep a belly band on him in the house which I HATE ut I cannot trust him. He will pooo in on spot in the house but NOT on the pee pad. It is like he is defiant or something From the infomertial many of the...
Just posted this in the general area but realized the training section might be better. Here's the problem:
We bought Tallulah (6 years old) last December from a really nice family. The only thing is she was allowed to do whatever she wanted! Now she is a spoiled pampered pooch! She bites me when I try to discipline her for peeing on our [COLOR=green ! important] [COLOR=green ! important] ...
Just a guess, but I think it could have something to do with the dramatic change in schedule. Dogs like routine. I know at that young age she can't hold it 9-4, but she could be confused now because she's not outside as much and she's going where she is know comfortable, which is in the house. Is there any one that could come during lunch and let her out and that way you could get rid of the pee...
I have my Yorkie trained for both inside and out, therefore, I am not upset when he goes in the house on papers. I just clean it up. No big deal. He usually goes outside, but sometime he has to go when I am busy getting a meal, taking a shower, or at night, so it is good to have him trained for both. Also, your baby is still quite young. It may take sometime for her to become completely ...
Baaaad dog. He's been doing this for about a week now! But only in the morning? There's no poo, then we take him out, he pees and we just come back inside and leave the door open for him, and go upstairs and get ready and he pooped! On the floor! What? What's wrong with grass? Where is this coming from? Did he here me say neuter?
Take a treat with you when you go out and tell him he will get a treat after he goes poo or what ever you say, and then give him a treat immediately after he does his business. If he finds he gets rewarded for doing his business outside, he should stop doing it inside.
We have two yorkies one just turned a year old Sadie yesterday & Kadie will be a year old in Dec . Sadie barks when somone is coming home & it just gets so annoying what can we do
Tucker is the same way. He gets going about something and wont give it up. I have tried squirting him with a water bottle. It makes him stop at that time but he will just do it again the next time someone comes home or he sees something outside. I am up for suggestions myself.
Get an empty soda can or some kind of can, fill it up with coins and shake it everytime they bark and say "quiet" or "no bark" or something of the like. Most dogs don't like the noise. They will eventually learn when you say quiet to stop barking.
Squirt bottle works for some dogs, and not for others.
They do have collars (NOT shock collars) that spray citronella but I've never tried them...
Oh my gosh! I thought I was the only person that had to return my Yorkie back to the breeder. I felt so sad and cried so much but I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do. We picked up our puppy on the weekend and I had to bring him back to the breeder the next day. He just so tiny and needy that I knew I could not give him the dedication that he needed. Lots of tears but I know in ...
Yorkies are a ton of work. I totally understand that with a new baby on the way that a young yorkie pup would be a lot to handle. Hard decision but probably the best for all involved including the pup! Good Luck and good for you!
Hi I found when we had our pup he would try and bite and chew our fingers and hands. I read that when you pull away they think you are playing. It is better to move your hand forward towards the back part of their mouth and they let go. We did this with Tommy and he soon stopped. He didnt chase our feet so not sure what to do with that. Maybe use a squirt bottle.
I would try introducing her to other dogs one at a time, and as long as the other dogs is not snapping back, then just ignore it. Have them both on leashes so you can stop them if they start to fight. Your state of mind is the biggest factor here, If you are nervous about what might happen, the dogs will pick up on that, so you need to be relaxed and calm. and do not pick her up and cuddle her when she is nervous and shaking, that only...
This guy is already on Animal Planet! A show called Superdog, I believe. I want to add though that Cesar doesn't teach tricks or typical sit-stay-down stuff... he works with problem dogs who often have learned to run the household, it's a bit different and not really comparable.
I actually did it the opposite of you, and kept Joey in a playpen with a pad during the day, and crated him at night. I had to get up once or twice a night and put him on a pee pad, and of course, first thing in the morning. This trained him very fast that he was suppose to go on pee pads, and during the day he usually sought the pad out, if he was not too far from it.
