This is kind of an FYI Harvey Norman have in their boxing day mailer a $25 DVD player It plays DivX and Xvid - best of all it has a USB port on the front. Have you tried creating a larger FAT32 partition? I got a 80GB drive/partition that works on several DVD/USB players. Of course you need a 3rd party app to format a partition larger than 32GB

Nah i havent yet. It was partitioned at 160gb ntfs but i wanted to get it going in a hurry. For $25 tho its still awesome. I will try using a 3rd party app to make it larger tonight and post back Ray Taylor http://rayt02.bebo.com

since its normally the optical drives that die in them, at least with a USB port you can get a little more use out of the player till its lack of h264 becomes an issue.

Thanks for tip, I went out and bought one yesterday. They still had a big pile of them in Hamilton. Was able to view movie via usb flashdrive. Great buy (although it was $29, not $25. I assume it was the same model, a Visione)

Thanks to richms and quickt. Tried both the 4cc changer and the mpeg modifier but couldn't get it to work. The original files played fine on a friend's Panasonic (disc and usb) so I took it back and got a refund.
