It was a perfect night for the little 'monsters'! I sat on the front porch, handing out their treats and watching them parade up and down our
street....delight!!!
My Daughter Jacqueline called this morning - she was out with Lauren last night and said in her area where the houses are far back from the street, and there
are no sidewalks, there was not much activity and on some streets there was no one.
Next year I told her to come here, as there is almost non-stop traffic coming and going and watching them is a hoot. That way she won't feel so alone and...
I live in senior community so I have not had trick or treaters for years. I
do miss having the left over candy. Might go stock up on some later (should
be on sale today@!!!).
I remember a few years ago, I bought some sweets/candy for trick or treaters and placed them in a large bowl for the kiddies when they called. I had to go out
for the evening and hubby was left in charge. He didn't answer the doorbell all night and stuffed himself with candy - the greedy so and so! LOL!
We don't have Halloween in Israel and we didn't have it in Holland either. But we do have a holiday called Saint Martins day at November 11th, when
children go from door to door with a lantern, a chinese paperlantern or so with a candle, or nowadays a battery lamp...and sing songs..and than people hand out
candy. I remember when I was a kid I brought home a huge bag of candy! And if people didn't...
It is really interesting to read of how people celebrate different holidays...although Halloween here is not a holiday, it has become quite a commercial
venture in the last decade or so...you can buy a lot more than candy...lots of decorations now and of course very elaborate costumes.
I loved Halloween as a kid...we got home made candy, candy popcorn, candy applies, - lots of homemade stuff ...
