It is really interesting to read of how people celebrate different holidays...although Halloween here is not a holiday, it has become quite a commercial venture in the last decade or so...you can buy a lot more than candy...lots of decorations now and of course very elaborate costumes. I remember a few years ago, I bought some sweets/candy for trick or treaters and placed them in a large bowl for the kiddies when they called. I had to go out for the evening and hubby was left in charge. He didn't answer the doorbell all night and stuffed himself with candy - the greedy so and so! LOL!

We don't have Halloween in Israel and we didn't have it in Holland either. But we do have a holiday called Saint Martins day at November 11th, when children go from door to door with a lantern, a chinese paperlantern or so with a candle, or nowadays a battery lamp...and sing songs..and than people hand out candy. I live in senior community so I have not had trick or treaters for years. I do miss having the left over candy. Might go stock up on some later (should be on sale today@!!!).
