Thread: HR 3404 - Unemployment Extended Benefits - Topix

Started 3 months, 3 weeks ago by dale christensen
i would hope that this legilation hr-3404 would be adopted asap. this is an absolute "must" as the employment picture continues to darken. this would ensure those people would be able to make house payments, and contribute to the whole economic picture. not passing this would be a disaster

I realize it's only another four months, but I'd hate to lose my home for Christmas. I can't take much more of this stress. God help us all.

I remember when I first lost my job (and had more time to watch the news) that an economic advisor to pres.Bush said that the unemployed today need at least 2 years of benefits so they can retrain and adapt. This advisor was ignored. His advice was that the 2 years allowed the rest of the economy to stabilize. Now, who was right. We used to spend 10 billion a month on the Iraq war. Are we being ...

I agree, I have been out of work since Feb 08. I have never been without a job since I was 16, and this has been one of the hardest things me and my family have been thru. I have worked in corp management for over 10 years, and there is nothing out there in any field. My husband and I are trying to take care of our 2 kids and find a way not to lose our home. Please pass this bill!!

Guess computer programing isn't complete yet for CA since claim forms have not yet been sent out. They were aiming for this week, but nothing yet. Got the notice that I'm eligible, just have to wait, hope any day now. Don't know anything about staffing.

Joan, thanks. That's what I figured. You're right about CA being lax - It seems apparent that our Govenor hadn't been on it as he should have been - probably too focused on the failure of the budget and getting that passed and what jobs to cut etc. CA is in bad shape...

I just got off phone with EDD and the rep said that as long as you call in no online app is necessary. I did ask for a comfirmation number and the rep said one was not needed. He did sound new but did say I was on a list to let them know Im still unemployed.

If you'd like to send your House & Senate representatives an urgent email in support of this bill go to: http://www.nelp.org/page/speakout/FedBensNow It's cool because when you put in your zip code, it automatically lists all your State's representatives and emails it directly to them - you...
