Thread: HP Pavilion m8240br - Windows Vista sleeping problem!! - Operating systems and software - HP Support Forum

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by ppaltieri
Hello   I have a HP Pavilion m8240br with Windows Vista Home Premium, and I've been having a problem with the Sleep function.   When I bought it, almost 2 years ago, it worked fine: I put it to sleep, and when I wanted to use it again, I could normally wake it up. Since a few months ago, I've been having problems to wake it up. When I hit any key or move the mouse or anything that ...

- Did you try using a different monitor?   - Did you try using the latest driver available on Windows Update?   windowsupdate.microsoft.com   - Did the graphics card come with the system? What is the name of the NVIDIA Graphics solution you're using?

Hello PC_Tester,   Thanks for replying.   Yes, as I said, I did try to use another monitor, and the same thing happened.    Yes I have the latest driver available, but I'll check again to see if I really have.   The graphic cards comes with the system, yes. What do you mean by "graphics solution"? Its a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 43, is that what you asked?   Thanks once ...

update:   Instead of update the nvidia driver via windows, I went to nvidia webpage and downloaded the latest driver. After I installed it, and after installing some Windows Vista updates, now the PC goes to sleep but as soon as it sleeps it wakes up without me making it wake up. The monitor behaves the same: it doesn't wakes up.

have you tried doing system recovery? XD

ppaltieri replied 1 month, 1 week ago
Hello, Tech_Rain   No, I haven't... do you think thats the only option left?   Thanks       edit:   Btw, this will sound stupid, but what exactly is a system recovery? Would I lose my files, like if I format it?   Message Edited by ppaltieri on 11-16-2009 01:39 PM

yeah, i think you should try performing a system recovery to resolve that issue, just make a back up of your important files first because system recovery will reformat the pc and put the pc back to its original factory settings like the first time you had your pc, of course it will also fix all the software issues since it will bring back the original factory settings,   anyway have ...

Thanks, Tech_Rain, I'll do that...   I haven't done any set of recovery discs.. To be frank I'm kinda confused about what recovery disc is... Is it the same as a backup disc?   Another thing, how do I perform this system recovery? Is there an option to do that in my PC? Cuz I don't remember receiving any CD when I bought it.

Tech_Rain replied 1 month, 1 week ago
oh, every hp pc does not came with a set of rcd with it because you have the option to do it on your own,   recovery disc is different from back up disc,   to perform system recovery on vista http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam e=c00814731&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en  ,make sure that when you perform system recovery, be sure that the only cables connected are the mouse,...
