Practice. There's not much of a strategy to beat the characters with, you'll just have to practice more.

Whatever I do, I can't beat Geary! I powerslide, use starting boosts, and use the shortcut every time. Is there any strategy?

Thanks. I tried playing as Crunch, but it was still tough to beat him. I haven't done it yet. I wonder how hard Velo is... gulp

Velo's a whole 'nother story. That's one where you really have to practice like the CTR race against Oxide. Honestly, it's true.

I finally beat Geary, with a lot of pressure on me. I got the blue gem. Velo is HARD!

Practice is all you need and what you were doing is the way I beat Geary just keep trying
