Thread: HELP 10 inch mitre saw

Does anyone know why my 10 inch master craft mitre saw wont cut through a 4 inch baseboard. I can get almost through all the way but except 1/8 inch and that ruins the cut. Its a Mastercraft. Is there a trick or setting to get it to cut deeper? I am able to get a cut when I tilt it but the 45 degree angle must be out. Best you mitre straigt up and down. Would I need a 12 inch mitre saw? Who has a deal on them? Just need it to make a few cuts...

Don't put your 2x4 right against the straight edge at the back of the cutting surface. Put a straight piece of scrap 2x4 there and then put the piece you want to cut against that.
