Thread: HELP 10 inch mitre saw

Does anyone know why my 10 inch master craft mitre saw wont cut through a 4 inch baseboard. I can get almost through all the way but except 1/8 inch and that ruins the cut. Its a Mastercraft. Is there a trick or setting to get it to cut deeper? I am able to get a cut when I tilt it but the 45 degree angle must be out. Best you mitre straigt up and down. Would I need a 12...

Don't put your 2x4 right against the straight edge at the back of the cutting surface. Put a straight piece of scrap 2x4 there and then put the piece you want to cut against that. You are simply not getting the blade to it's deepest point when you are back against the straight edge. Hi, If it's the outside edge you'll need to put a piece of 1x6 under the baseboard. the other trick will work for the inside edge. I used the 1x6 trick before I got my sliding mitre saw.
