I want to import 1080 60i footage into Final Cut Pro 6.0. However it's not recognizing the camera at all. I have the camera properly set (it's a Canon XH-A1 fyi) to play back in HDV and 60i and all that. However still, nothing works normally. I've gotten FCP to capture footage multiple times in the past but I don't know why tonight is any different. Using iMovie I was able to ...

I keep seeing this (HDV - Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)) as a solution, but again I'm not clear on what ProRes really is and I don't recall needing it before. Also, I am missing that as a preset in FCP anyway. I only have two capture presets with HDV, "HDV" and "HDV - Apple Intermediate Codec".
