Hi I went to US ~2.5 yrs back and started working for a consulting company. I worked with them for ~1.5yrs and switched to a public company. I asked a couple of times why she is giving me 221g. She said she can't share all info. Instead she said I have done it twice earlier and I need to do it again. She said its a sensitive matter and deptt of Homeland and security need to verify my case. Well, as I said she asked few questions and immediately pulled up 221g pink.

Hi Avinash, you did not mention the reason on 221g. Also with an expired visa you cannot re-enter USA. Sep 2009 is an irrelevant date as you are currently working on the petition valid till 2011. Seniors can guide you if you could provide the reason mentioned in 221g. Do not try to return on a B1 visa, unless you are very sure "You won't work". Also if you are returning on a B1 Visa, you need to prove what you are going...

There is no way of knowing how long it will take. You are in the queue with many others who have the same time pressures. It is a risk you take every time you leave the US while on a guest visa/status.

i was in a similar situation, eventhough existing visa was valid i went honestly to extend the visa when i came for my marriage. i got a 221 (g) for my h1b waited for8 months for it to be issued, in the meanwhile i lost my us job and had to remain in india. i had gone through similar frustration . nothing u can do. i went for b1 stamping again and got 221g pink slip again. i dont know howlong is the wait. they say the process is improved but...
