thanks, i looked it up on that site as well. but didn't the 540r not come out until 1987? that's why the 1980 date seems odd. i'm pretty sure it has the wrong neckplate on it. i paid $410 shipped for it, which I think is a pretty good deal... i'll take more pics tomorrow. the trem looks like it might be in the right spot but i really don't know! if i make it parallel i don't think i will...

My first Ibanez was a 570, and I always wanted a 550. I have a Bitsa that has a 550 body and 565 neck. It is beyond cool.

Ha! Ha! Yeah, same colour, different guitar. Those new 350's look awesome though.

Hi! I've just bought a pre-lawsuit Ibanez 2350 (Les Paul shape), The guitar need some restoring (refretting etc..) but seems to be very well-built! Is all Original, apart the pickups (now Dimarzio PAFs) and the tuners (the previous owner did a really bad work as you can see form the headstock!). I know they had the rocket roll and the RR ll, back in the early 80's. and I think they offered one throughout the 70's, very closely resembling the gibson V. Not sure of any others though..

Alder all the way. Mahogany is great...in a 24 3/4 scale guitar with preferably a hardtail and maple cap. Maybe some day I'll change my mind, but I would never dream of having Mahogany in anything even remotely RGish or Stratish.

If you want Fender sound the Alder is the way to go. I don't know about nowadays but the old Strats were pretty much all Alder.
