Thread: Grilled Cheese Truck

Started 1 month ago by JaneStClaire
There has been a trend of "gourmet" food trucks roaming Los Angeles. One of the most recent to open has been a Grilled Cheese Truck. One of the creations on the menu is a mac & cheese sandwich. In case, y'know, mac & cheese wasn't carbtastic enough on its own, let's throw some bread around it. http://www.thegrilledcheesetruck.com/Pages/menus.a spx I'm waiting for the truck to park ...

Hobbes: More, please Hobbes informed me last week that he doesn't like figs. No amount of "but you used to LOVE them!"ing convinced him otherwise. No disguising them, chopped finely, either. He can find 'em in oatmeal and fruit salads and the reminding would begin again: "Mom. I don't like figs." The good news is that Tigger - who was gestating when i wrote the post to which i'm...

Hobbes informed me last week that he doesn't like figs. No amount of "but you used to LOVE them!"ing convinced him otherwise. No disguising them, chopped finely, either. He can find 'em in oatmeal and fruit salads and the reminding would begin again: "Mom. I don't like figs." How funny! The Wombat and I just had this conversation about tomatoes a couple of weeks ago with similar ...

The good news is that Tigger - who was gestating when i wrote the post to which i'm replying - seems to have taken over where his big brother left off. Aw! I love fresh figs and really don't like dried. Is Hobbes like that, maybe? Not exactly related but kinda: N has been a vegetarian for about a week. So far she's been really committed, and I felt awful when I realized I forgot ...

I love fresh figs and really don't like dried. Is Hobbes like that, maybe? Hmmm. He's only ever had fresh figs, though. I think he's just being a stinker. Or asserting his independence. Whichever.

N has been a vegetarian for about a week. So far she's been really committed, the elf is pushing a month with this choice as well. (not even fish) so far, he has been fairly adventurous with the trying-of-tofu prepared in different ways, and lentils & rice. perhaps he and N should discuss *how get get their stick-figure, still growing bodies enough protein* peace & eating choices t...

perhaps he and N should discuss *how get get their stick-figure, still growing bodies enough protein* Can syncgirl sit in on these discussions? Thank god she drinks milk and eats some cheese, but getting animal protein down her throat is always a challenge. She apaprently likes the anti-Atkins diet - all carbs, all the time. Blueberry waffles with syrup and fruit on the side? ...

Oh god. She really is a stick figure. The elf is too??

french toast & waffles are full of eggs! I hope the waffles are (TJ's blueberry). She's mixed on French Toast. For pancakes we use the Costco box mix (Lehri's? Lehni's? Something like that). 1/3 cup mix to 1/4 cup water, just enough to make a mommy pancake, a daddy pancake, and a syncgirl pancake (about half the size of mommy and daddy pancake), and syncgirl eats all three of ...

A song came on the radio this morning ("The Lovers are Losing") and Hobbes asked me if it was sung by U2. I told him that, no, while it did sound a bit U2-esque, it was, in fact, sung by Keane. He paused and then said, "I like to call them Keane-wa (quinoa)." Ba-dum-bum.

My mother used to buy soup bones all the time because she loved to scoop out the marrow with a spoon and eat it. I remember as a very small child, that being allow to suck the marrow out of the soup bones* was a treat - like licking the mixing spoons when making cake. peace & childhood indulgences t

AlyKat (with her insider knowledge) sent me a similar link last year! Helluva deal. We already own Seasons 1 and 3 (but not two?) - which are at sug's house because we never watch them - plus the entire series is on hulu.com , i believe. The DVD extras are pretty great, though.

I'm working on a blog that I plan to announce on 1 January. It's just something that I'm doing as a kind of self motivation thing. I would like to ask that all of you visit it and give me some feedback on the design, colors, format, etc. The content right now is just random posts and some fun links but when I launch it I will remove most of them (with the exception of the first one) and begin fresh....

Worth a trip, yes. Dunno if it's All.That. yet, but definitely worth checking out and getting stuff from. And of course, if you have a specific day in mind and it's around lunchtime, I could arrange to be there, too! -synchronicity

Er Hammy, didn't you just say you'd like toast rather than a sandwich? I bought some tapenade with capers which was a tad too salty for me as a dip. Mixed it up with a hint of sambal olek and served it over penne pasta with lashings of grated parmesan. Ate so much I had to lay flat to let it digest. That worked well until big fat lazy black cat thought my stomach an ideal place to snooze.

I love marrow! We ate it out of soup bones, too. There's a Spanish dish called cocido that has whole vegetables and whole soup bones in it that I love and the marrow is in those bones, too. (It's kind of the Spanish version of New England boiled dinner, with the broth included). The strangest food I've ever eaten has been roasted grasshoppers. I took a survival class back in college and we tried them "just in...
