Thread: Greenspan warns of more unemployment - Topix

Started 1 year, 4 months ago by RandyNason
He (Greenspan) said that the current crisis had "turned out to be much broader than anything that I could have imagined." Uh, huh... Isn't the reason that Greenspan was appointed as Federal Reserve Chairperson because he was a supposed and well respected expert who would be able to foresee and anticipate such a monumental crisis? Why does he act so surprised, now? It indicates to me that he is ...

Yes, Greenspan like Volker missed all the warning signs of impending economic disaster and went blindly ahead with failed economic policy that led to recession and high unemployment. But the mistakes by Volker in the late'80s have now been forgotten and excused and only his successes remembered by politicians. It may also be so of Greenspan in a few decades, some politician will use him as a ...

Deport the illegals. Imagine how much money would be saved.

Deport the illegal aliens! So our ecomony, neighborhoods, and environment with definitely benefit.

Ah, the joy of Reaganomics and the "trickle down theory." The illegals are probably the only ones with cash!

It all goes back to liberalism produced by both parties. NAFTA, Making it easy for anyone to buy a $200,000 home which inflated housing prices which led to the failing housing industry, and letting illegal emigrants to flourish here is part of the problem. This result is due to a happy bunch of pocket stuffing congressmen and senators that eat dinner with the Lobbyists. There isn't any politician...

The jobs dry up for non-citizens and they'll return to their home countries; and, wages will go up to attract our citizens to take those jobs. Are you old enough to remember when most construction jobs were union jobs?

There are two Islams historically they recognised other religions and Christians were often ministers in Islamic governments. Now we have an Islam with no tolerance for other beliefs-possibly a minority but a very vocal minority. It is up to Islam to decide where it stands.

Illegal aliens using other peoples' identities is not part of the problem? They shoulder no responsibilities?

You still didn't answer the question, sir: why shouldn't illegal aliens not be held accountable for stealing the identities of others?

It's everyone else's fault except theirs. Have you taken your meds, today? Greenspan is a lying sack. What's YOUR excuse for swerving on the road of rationale and good sense?

A very large part of the current financial crisis lies with the practice of some financial institutions of buying sand, sifting it, repackaging it, and reselling it as diamonds. That sand was then used as required capital reserves by financial institutions all over the world. There have been some thieves at work here. They have been rewarded with huge salaries and bonuses. As far as I can tell, none of those thieves have been illegal aliens....

A $516 trillion derivatives 'time-bomb' Most markets have something behind them. Central banks require reserves – something that backs up the transaction. But derivatives don't have anything – because they are not real money, but paper money. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/ne... This system has core flaws, now that "confidence that hid that has gone" all core flaws stand out exposed. Tax cuts for...

Bozo, the clown could have predicted there will be more unemployment and he would be right. The rich in this country have had a field day under Bush, now the chickens are on the roost pole, that's the bottom line. I thought Greenspan retired in 2006, where is Bernanke? He's supposed to be the Fed chairman now. Are these so called experts nuts? There's kids in the 8th grade who could have managed the economy better than...
