Thread: Green Lantern: Blackest Night "Free Comic Book Day" Talkback (Spoilers)

This is a decent prologue to the upcoming Blackest Night event. Seeing as it's a free give-away, you could be cautious about its quality and importance to the overall story. There's no need to worry about the quality as it's written by Johns and illustrated by Reis, so it's just like reading the monthly "Green Lantern" book
As for importance to the overall story, well... there's ...
I still don't like that it's a DCU-wide crossover. It's gone from an interesting idea for a story to "Hey! Let's Resurrect Every Character We've Killed For Sales Over The Past Ten Years, For More Sales!"
That being said, though, I did like this issue, and with the creative team involved, I'm on for at least the main mini-series. This gave you just enough to make you want to come back for more...
I liked the Black Lantern Oath, and some things like Barry not knowing who Dick wasn't Robin anymore, but I just can't stand Hal.
I'll be reading Blackest Night, but for the story, not for the lead character.
Of course, in the wake of Justice Society Infinity's appearance, one can start wondering now whether the "Kal-L" alluded to in the advance publicity is the one killed in Infinite Crisis or the JSI variant whose fate was unknown at last mention.
Excellent book. I wasn't expecting anything regarding Batman's death at all so this was a pleasant surprise (I was also surprised to hear Hal refer to Parallax). This issue was the catchup I needed after so many years of not reading. I really like where this is going, though I'm worried this story will suffer from "Bleach syndrome" where they'll introduce so many characters that I won't know ...

That's part of the reason for "Tales of the Corps". And the expanded casts of all 8 Corps actually justifies the scope and scale; much as I was against it, this ...
I went by my comic shop today (I tend to go once a month instead of weekly) to grab this. I've not yet had a chance to read it, as I have the last two Green Lantern issues to go through before I read this. Still, they had something cool worth note.
Not sure if it's every comic shop or just select ones, but mine today was doing a promotion that, if you buy Blackest Night #1, you get a plastic,...
Just read both Blackest Night #1 and Tales of the Corps #1 and I'm blown away.
I understand people's concerns that there are too many characters involved, but there are some real gems in this series. I loved Saint Walker's origin story. Great tale, great parable (a modern day Job), very human despite focusing on an alien race.
A little disappointed with the Indigo Tribe, however. As the ...

Really limits who can fight them, if Barry and Hal do go to the dark side. Every major...

Willpower (or I like to think of as courage) is represented by green and is a balancing force between the various emotions - red for rage, orange for...
OK, thanks for the info, well at least i'll know what to get myself for St. Patricks day & or easter next year. LULZ! On the other hand, if I drop Exiles, or get this instead of Brave & the bold... mabye i could fit the mini in...meh, I think I'll wait & get the Hardback collections.
Nei Ruffino ( the cover artist and colorist in many of the Green Lantern and Blackest Night issues ) has posted the cover to Blackest Night Superman #3 on her deviantart page. I don't know if its the main cover, or a variant, but it is seriously the most bad@ss cover to a comic I have ever seen. http://bakanekonei.deviantart.com/ar...-cov-137880592 I'm not even into Superman and I love that image.
