J62, I have did a 3 day raft trip a couple of years ago. It is basically the last 90 miles or so or the Canyon. It is on a big raft that holds 15 people, as well as the gear and food. You take a small plane from Vegas, spend the Day at Bar 10 Ranch, near the rim(in the middle of nowhere). The airstip is dirt/gravel and very crooked. I was going to suggest a headlamp; you can get some good ones at REI and Croakies for their glasses or sunglasses. Water shoes like Keen's are nice if you know their sizes.
