Thread: Graco Nautilus or Britax Regent?

Started 4 months, 3 weeks ago by Logan's Mommy
We currently have a Graco Nautilus for our son, but now need a second car seat. Since the Britax Regent in sahara is on clearance right now, it's about he same price as a Nautilus. So my question is...which one would you go with and why? BTW my son in 25 mos. 30lbs. & 36" tall.

At that age and weight, I'd buy a Radian or My Ride and use rearfacing for another year.

I agree with the others. If he was four or so I'd make a different choice, but for a small child my first preference would be to rear face him. Otherwise, the PP is right. The Nautilus will fit such a small child much better. The Regent wouldn't be unsafe, but it'd be less comfortable for him. Yep, I would get a radian or myride snd RF as long as possible, and then FF in that seat until outgrown. At that point, the child should be old enough to use a booster as his backup seat.

I would absolutely not have a two year old in either a Regent or a Nautilus. Rear facing only

Definitely rear facing, especially while so little. My 26 month old is 34lbs and around 38 inches and would be swimming in the Regent. I would never get it for a just turned 2 yr old, especially at that size. My son is still rear facing in the MyRide but is forward facing in the Frontier until next month when hubby deploys. I would get a Radian or True fit to keep that child rear facing. Your son is just still so small to be forward. I hate ...

I agree... I have had the Regent and would never put a kid under 3 (unless they were the size of a 6yr old... I've seen the rare extremity where a child really does need that seat that early) if you won't turn him rearfacing, I'd get another Nautilus... but ideally, I'd have him rearfacing.

Another vote for rear facing. Do you have a convertible seat from before the Nautilus that you could use?

My son swam in the Regent at almost 4--I think at that point he was 35 pounds? It's really a huge seat.
