Hi i was so happy to recive my DP2 today. I shot about 120 Pictures and then the camera frozen und the lens will not retract. It is a know issue but maybe there is some trick to revitalize it again. It would be so sad to sand it back just after one day. But i love the camera and try to stick with it. Greatings from Berlin A.

Yes i tried many times. It sound like if the lens engine was trying to retract it but only ones after switching it on. And ther is the DP2 text on the display... Greatings A.

Thanks, i already tried this method but without results. So i will have to send it back, but after the first results in Raw i want to stay with sigma. Autofocus ist quite dissapointing but i will try to use the manual focus more often. But it is real fun. And i love the rangefinde VF 21. Greatings again
I know. I recharged the battery but with the same results but thanks for the hint! I tried it many times but even if it would start now i couldn't trust this one any more... Greatings again
I had a similar experience this week. My brand new DP2 lasted about 2 minutes before freezing up. I was only exploring the menus. "Fair enough," I thought, I'll try again. I had heard that this can be a problem (and that a firmware fix was available). The next time I turned it on, it lasted maybe a minute. And the next time, only a few seconds... By this point, I had the latest firmware ...
I am sure it was a frustrating experience. I know Ricoh makes good cameras, but the issue for me, as an SD10 user, is that the Foveon images just look, to me, so much better. Sounds like you had the same reaction. Some people can't see the difference. Apparently you can. Richard BenDM wrote: > I had a similar experience this week. I love the quality and the certain look of sigma pictures. I am ready to compromise on speed, autofocus but not i would like to take pictures and a broken camera is really frustrating. I am just lucky that the weather got bad today. But yesterday it was great to do the first experiences with the DP2. I know that i have to learn a lot but that is what makes as enjoy it. http://farm4.static....
Like many here, I am prepared to compromise on operational speed, limited ISO range, battery life, and clunky menus for the rewards that the Foveon sensor can bring. However, a camera that doesn't work at all is one compromise that's impossible to reconcile! I know that unless Ricoh use the Foveon chip the images will not be the same. But they make high quality equipment (I've seen no reports of frozen cameras from their camp),...

Ricoh had many problems with their cheaper R models. R4 to R8 were known for problems with stuck lenses. But their higher gear (GRD; CX; GX) seems to be without that flaws. Martin ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 'Carpe diem' or 'go out and shoot some pictures' ;-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------...
