Thread: Good replacement for ashtray

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by soledoc
So I'm adding my latest "mod" to my car...a St. Christopher statue (you know the patron saint of travellers...lots of germans do that, plus my name is Christopher) and trying to find a good place to put it. I pop out the ashtray which I'll never use and wondering if there is a good replacement piece that would just fill in that area without the silver piece (which I know can come out) that fits...

the best advice anyone can give you is, take it to a a/c shop and let them do the work. but if your still wanting to do it yourself, then call an a/c shop and see if they can give you the psi your looking for.

Just completed a "seat twist" repair on the passenger seat last weekend. Search "seat twist" and "seat removal" and you will find tons of DIY fixes. Cost me less than $20 to repair and took a little over an hour. (I posted a write up on mine (2002 530i): http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...ght=seat+tw ist

you could look on ebay or amazon for a bently manual. but it probly won't help to much. like i said as far as chasing the cold start rough idle, i been working on it for th last 2 yr. just about replace every sensor i know, expect for a few. and the heistation at high speeds, i would check the spark plugs. for some reason they seem to back out.

After replacing the temp sensor, you have to drive the car a few miles so the sensor can adjust.

Before I cut the ski-pass in with 2 x10's in the trunk and my RF amp it sounded like a heard of elephants stampeding in my trunk. Once I cut the ski-pass, installed a BSW 10" and pulled out the 3" cutouts that were already there in the deck it sounded MUCH MUCH better. If there is no way for the bass to escape up into the cabin it'll just rumble around in the trunk which is useless.

E46 air pump in a E39?

Check your vacuum hose to the check valve. This hose cracks over time and loses vacuum. Then your check valve stops opening and you don't get the airflow which triggers the fault code.

That's too bad. Since you feel I am an ass and an elitist, I have decided I will no longer answer questions on this forum for others and try to help with my experience. It's interesting how after 4 days not many other members have answered this questions. I think I shall take that route as well. In fact, feel free to delete my elitist ass' membership if you desire.

Great color lucky you. What are the stats on it? Also, what wheels do you plan on replacing those Compton-styled chrome ones with?

Remote start follow up
Published (2009-12-12 23:54:00)
Why do you need a remote start? A modern engine should not be started and run for a long period of time. The rich fuel mixture will wash the oil off the cylinder walls. Your owner's manual will tell you to start up, wait a short period of time (if very cold outside), and then drive away.

525 non-sport to a v8 genesis is a pretty big step. I've heard some sour things about the genesis though. I hate to say it and not be able to back it up because I forget what I read. Anyways...best of luck.
