The red sox have a far more recent title than 2004. Sure it was a great year but that'd be like Yankee fans talking about how great the 90's were.

you mean in game 4 when gordon pitched 2 scoreless innings and rivera blew the lead? rivera threw 40 pitches in game 4 followed by another 26 in game 5. i really don't think joe wanted to test out mo's arm like that. why are you even thinking about 2004, anyway? it's 5 years ago.

With the 27th crown secured, the book is now closed on the Torre era.  Girardi can now manage this team outside of Torre's shadow and continual references/comparisons to him.  Congratulations Joe G.   You did it!! Go Yankees!

Giradi did something that Torre could not do in the playoffs and that beat the Angels.  I also believe if Giradi was managing against the Red Sox back in 04 that he would have gone to Mo for two innings instead of bringing Gordon in the 8th like Torre did.  Everyone new that Gordon alway got rock by the Sox but I guess Torre must have miss that memo. No.   The 2009 Yankees did something the 2002 and 2005 Yankees couldn't do.

i don't get the hatred for joe torre. i really don't...great point about how MO blew the lead, not Flash...but another great point, yankee fans bringing up 2004, haven't moved on yet? ...yeah, like you haven't brought up 2004 before.
