Thread: Getting Old Files After Using Factory Recovery Hp Compaq Vista

Here`s my question. Is it possible to recover or view files that were not backed up at all before or during the factory recovery? I`m not talking factory restore, Im talking factory recovery. My D drive is the factory image partition. I recently did a factory recovery which apparently completely wipes all memory that was not backed up and restores the computer to its original factory...

Hi god162534 and welcome to Vista Forums It really depends on what the person who ends up with your laptop intends to do with it. For the layperson, you should be OK. Hello god162534, Welcome to Vista Forums. If the info was not overwritten by the recovery, then free software may be able to recover it. You could try 'Recuva' and see what it finds. Link here: Free Software List for Vista Even if it has been overwritten, it may be recoverable. Hope this helps. Gary

Thnx for info. First of all, I tried recuva as well as several other free sevices, none of which found anything from the old hdd. As for multiple deletions, I can`t seem to recover the info now, so how do i multiply delete something I can`t get? Would running another factory recover make it even harder to obtain my info?
