Thread: Gamble on Injury Prone Stud Pitching!

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by kirkydu
While there is a lot of talk about Washburn, the only way I would like to see that is if we let Looper go. I would much rather see the Brewers spend money on high end of the rotation guys who have had injury problems and are high ceiling guys. All of these average pitchers we overspend on, i.e. Looper and Suppan aren't worth the bucks. We can get almost average pitchers from the minors ...

Yeah, I hope they let looper go. Now that they will mostly likely let cameron go. That should clear up some money. If they sign washburn and an injury prone guy I would be fine with that.

Red Sox Like Buy-Low, High-Upside Starters By Ben Nicholson-Smith [October 15, 2009 at 4:16pm CST] John Smoltz and Brad Penny didn't work out for the Red Sox, but the pair of righthanders cost the club a relatively small amount, so they'll consider similar pitchers this offseason. Red Sox GM Theo Epstein tells Sean McAdam of the Boston Herald that he will remain open-minded as he looks for a ...

Discussion: Erik Bedard By Tim Dierkes [October 19, 2009 at 2:30pm CST] A few years ago, it seemed possible that Erik Bedard could score a massive $20MM per year free agent contract upon reaching free agency after the 2009 season. One huge trade and two disappointing seasons later, he's likely to sign a one-year deal.

brew4ever replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
I wouldn't mind Bedard. I really don't want penny or smoltz though. Who knows if we take a gamble on two guys and they have great seasons we will be in for a good year.

RoadBeefWarrior replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Bedard's made 30 starts one time in his career, 28 one other season. Anyone giving him a two-year deal can afford to eat that contract.

Why would we want John Smoltz? He has nothing left to give. He got rocked this year.

We should have put a waiver claim on Scott Kazmir or traded for Jarrod Washburn

ih8macha replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Waiver claim would of went to the Angels anyway since there in the same league. I would mind the Brewers taking a Flier on a one year for Brad Penny.

kirkdope spent a week complaining about it

Yeah now I notice the sarcasm was a little too tired to pick it up before I responded seriously how many sign Harden threads are we going to see. Its about as annoying as Homer saying I am living the dream.

kirkydope has a pretty good track record on being right though don't sign Suppan don't move Hall to Cf don't sign Looper trade JJ a long time ago trading LaPorta for CC was great day of (remember, a lot of people were complaining) should have traded Gamel for Kazmir (Rays got a 3b prospoct for him) quite a few others The Brewers need a top of the rotation pitcher. Their only chance to do that is to gamble on high ceiling, high...
