> My dd was born at 30 weeks for no apparant reason. My doc and I have several theories and we are taking precautions against each this time around. One of our concerns was that I constantly had vaginal bacterial infections with my last pregnancy. This time he has put me on some probiotics to help keep that at bay...food for thought.

Jen- thanks for posting this article.  I had an appointment today and actually got the BV/GBS culture done because of what you posted.  Hopefully all will be well. Ruth

This is starting to scare me since I did have a previous preterm birth, I just keep praying God allows me to carry this baby to term and be born healthy and thriving. I went into labor at 36 weeks with dd and 33 with ds but the reason was unknown. I did test positive for Group B strep with DD and my urine culture with...

Interesting article. I'm not trying to concieve yet but its interesting thats for sure. I did have a lot of strong vaginal discharge with strong odor during my pregnancy. I was itching constantly so I wonder if thats what did me in. They tested me the day of delivery for Group B and it came back positive that I was a carrier but I didnt have any in my vaginal area. Who knows though!

I would recommend trying to get a baseline at the end of your first trimester and seeing what the results are.  If they are high you might want to talk to your doctor about treatment.  Per the article, I would screen for both BV and Strep B. I have also heard of natural ways to reduce Strep B in the vagina but, have not tried it.  Something about garlic suppositories.  You may want to ...

You may want to research to see if you can find anything on that too.
